    The Forest Resources Management Program

    Welcome to the Forest Resources Management program at West Virginia University! We are a recognized leader in preparing students for careers in professional forestry ranging from consulting for private woodland owners to managing vast tracts of public forestlands. Students are trained in life sciences—biology, ecology, tree identification, sustainable forestry—and specialized sciences such as forest biometrics, forest economics, geographic information systems (GIS), and remote sensing of forest resources. The 7,000-acre West Virginia University Research Forest provides ample opportunities for hands-on, field-based exercises that demonstrate the concepts and ideas that students are exposed to in class.
